Welcome to Living Waters Catholic Parish. United in the Risen Jesus we journey together in the Light of Christ as a hope filled people. One parish which includes the Catholic communities of Bribie Island, Beachmere, Caboolture, Woodford and Kilcoy, we are a people of Christian faith, a people who care for each other and reach out to others in Jesus Christ with the mission of peace, justice and love of neighbour. With the Church in Australia at this time we are praying that the Spirit guide us through the Plenary Council, and hopefully await the outcomes of the Council for our way into the future. So, as in all our prayers we seek to fulfil Archbishop Mark’s words in the Decree of Establishment of Living Waters Parish:

"In John’s Gospel, Jesus offers ‘living water’ to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. May the rivers and waterways of this new parish always be a reminder of Jesus’ promise to this ‘living water’ and may it become, in the people, a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

May Our Lady, Mother of God and Mother of the Church, intercede with the Father for rich blessings to come to Living Waters Parish through Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit."

A Pentecost Reflection

There are seasons when hope feels like something you have to chase—something far ahead, always slipping out of reach. That’s where George found himself. He wasn’t angry or bitter; he was simply tired. Life had taken more than it had given, and he didn’t have the energy to pretend otherwise.

Pentecost Sunday came, and he went to Mass mostly out of habit. He didn’t expect anything. He didn’t ask for anything. He just sat there, letting the prayers wash over him.

Then, during a moment of quiet, something shifted. Not a miracle. Not a burst of emotion. Just a warmth - small, steady, unexpected. A sense that he wasn’t carrying everything alone. A sense that God had been closer than he realized.

It wasn’t hope he created. It was hope that found him. That’s the gift of the Spirit: She comes not only when we are strong, but especially when we are empty.

She breathes life into places we thought were done growing. She whispers courage into hearts that have forgotten how to ask for it.

Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit arrives in Her own time - sometimes in fire, sometimes in wind, and sometimes in the quiet moment when you finally realize you’re not as alone as you thought.

Celebrating First Holy Communion

Over these next two weekends, we’ll welcome them to the Lord’s Table with open hearts and prayers. It’s a joyful milestone for them and their families, and a blessing for our whole parish community.

Pope Leo’s June Prayer Intention

For the values of sports. Let us pray that sports be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, and that they promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth.
(With the FIFA World Cup opening this month, Pope Leo XIV has dedicated his June prayer intention to the power of sport to build bridges between cultures and nations.)

Emmaus Prayer for Our Daily Walk
Lord, walk with me on the roads that feel uncertain, in the moments when hope seems thin and my steps grow slow.
Be the quiet strength beside me, the presence I may not always notice but always need.

Open my eyes, as You opened theirs; softly, patiently, in the simple rhythms of my day, in shared meals, in small mercies, in the graces I often rush past.
Let my heart burn again with Your nearness. Teach me gratitude that steadies my spirit ~ in each breath, each kindness, each hidden blessing along the way.
Stay close, Lord.
Shine through my ordinary moments.

Guide my feet with Your peace until I learn to recognize You in every road I walk and every person I meet.

Magnifica Humanitas (Humanity in its grandeur)
Pope Leo XIV signed Magnifica Humanitas (Humanity in its grandeur), the first encyclical of his pontificate, on May 15, 2026.
The document was formally released by the Holy See on May 25, 2026.
The encyclical develops the Churchʼs social teaching in light of artificial intelligence, situating new questions of human dignity, labor, and the common good within the tradition that runs from Rerum Novarum through Centesimus Annus and Laudato Si'.
Read the full encyclical as a PDF.

Download the Pastoral Kit (33p PDF) on Magnifica Humanitas from Google Drive.
Each chapter offers:
² a summary of the main themes,
² biblical texts and quotes for meditation,
² personal and community questions,
² concrete experiences,
² moments of examination and prayer.

For a brief outline of how Magnifica Humanitas fits into the social teaching of the Church, see Bishop Anthony G Percy's article (and listen to his audio version) at The Scaffolding Newsletter.

Social Justice Statement February 2026
The Cost of Our Living: Economic and Social Justice for the Common Good
The Statement highlights the very real challenges facing Australian families and communities amid rising living costs. Across communities, rising living costs are making everyday necessities -like meals, energy bills, and housing – hard to afford, placing strain on young people, parents, and older Australians alike.
Download the Statement

View the National launch on YouTube (14 mins)
The launch highlights a powerful and timely message: behind the rising cost of living are real people making difficult choices every day — skipping meals, postponing medical care, and living with the constant worry of losing their home. These are not isolated stories. For far too many, this is becoming an everyday reality.
The statement invites us to look beyond the statistics, to recognise the human dignity at stake, and to reflect on how we, as a community shaped by faith, compassion, and solidarity, are called to respond for the common good.

THE DIFFERENT WAYS OF FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING OUR PARISH
We are indeed blessed by all who so generously give each week to the Parish through their contributions, however that may be – cash or cashless.  The planned giving program allows us to budget for the day to day running of our parish and of course to put funds aside for future works. For those who haven’t considered being part of the actual planned giving program, there are a variety of ways to do so.  Please click here for more information.
